Dubrovnik Part 3: Dubrovnik, arrival on the same day as everything else
We did not stay within the Old City Walls, but our hotel was nice and had good access to everything. We took a walk along the wharf our first evening, and saw some great ships. After an inexpensive dinner, we went to bed and did not even roll over.
We took a taxi to Old Town the next morning, where we immediately bought a ticket and started the route around the walls. Holy Mother! Dubrovnik is a walled city! This is no village or town. I stopped to try my hand at making coins and we made our way to the docks and bought tickets for a glass-bottomed boat tour. We ate before we went- which could have been good or bad, depending on who does the sea-sickness and who does the laughing.
Lunch was sandwiches, and the boat trip was fun. Honey loved it. It occurred to me, somewhere within the first ten minutes, that I love the view away from shore, but my body does not agree with the up/down/side to side thing. It was an hour trip. I did not, however, share my lunch with the nice Japanese people next to me. My stomach behaved itself.

Zacks favorite ship |
Dubrovnik is a big cruise ship destination, and after climbing the fort, we saw why. It really is mind blowing what people have built with small blocks of stone. This was no machine endevour. It was one block at a time. Wow.

After spending the day in the walled city we went back to shower and change. Then out the door on our way to dinner. Zack grabbed a brochure for a folk music concert and there was a show that night. We asked at the front desk how much ticketrs usually are and she said about 30 kuna, so we decided that we could go and enjoy some culture. We walked to dinner and had great meals. Zack had swordfish that he said tasted like real beef steak with no fish flavor. My favorite part of dinner were the slices of tomato with fresh mozzarella cheese and olive oil on top. It was delicious!!

On our way to the concert we jumped into another taxi and showed him the brochure and 6 minutes later he was telling us to go down the walkway to buy our tickets. It is great being in another country and able to communicate even though you don't know much of the language. The taxi cost less than $3.50.
Zack and I bought our tickets and the price was 80 kuna per ticket. We just smiled and bought the tickets, remembering that our dinner the night before was the price of one ticket. We walked into the concert hall and noticed that we were two of the six people under 60. We found seats and waited for the concert to start. The concert was a great look into traditional dress and music.
