Our Summer Fun Conitunes

Playing Apples to Apples
We arrived in Colorado stayed for one day and then took my mom to Wisconsin to stay with my sister Toni and her family. The Wings (Toni, Brett and sons; Cameron, Calvin and Preston) kept us entertained for the five days (July 14-19) that we visited them.

Friday we were off to the Mall of America. I was excited to go shopping. Zack and I bought clothes, new shoes, ate Chipotle burritos, and went on a roller coaster with Preston. It was a great time. My mom enjoyed going through the Mall as well.

Saturday we went kayaking with Brett and the boys. Zack and I had never been kayaking and to tell you the truth, I was a little nervous. We made it to the park, signed the waiver, payed for the boats and walked down to the river. The river was very calm with some rapids. Luckily the water was only up to your waist and as low as your kness in places. I was the first to fall out of the Kayak losing my sunglasses, as well as my kayak continued down the river without me. My nephews were in front of me and they were able to catch my kayak. Calvin even traded with me since my kayak had a lot of water inside.

I have great nephews. Zack also fell out of his kayak not once, but twice. The best part of him falling out was that he did not lose our camera that was inside a plastic ziplock in his pocket. He is my hero! We had a great time floating for three hours down the river. It was a beautiful kayak trip and I would do it again now that I am more comfortable with steering the kayak.

Sunday was spent on the Kinnickinnic River. Toni packed up bagels, fruit, juice, and coffee and we headed to the river. Mom decided not to go with us, but we had a great time. Zack drove the boat and was our captain for a little while. It was a beautiful day!

Monday Zack, Toni, and I went to a baseball game. It was 110 degrees and we were sitting in the sun. Toni brought her spray bottle with a fan that saved us and the people sitting next to us from the heat. We had great baseball food and enjoyed the game even though the Twins lost and it was so hot. After the game we went back to the house and jumped in the pool to cool off. That night for dinner we drove into Minnesota and went to dinner at a Japanese resturant that was fantastic. It reminded Zack and I so much of the food we were able to get while living in Japan. Oh, how we miss those days.

After dinner Preston, Calvin, Zack and I stayed in Minnesota for awhile and walked downtown. We came across some concerts, so we stopped and listened for awhile. Zack and I enjoyed hanging out with Preston and Calvin.

Tuesday we flew back to Colorado. We will miss playing board games with everyone, the great food Toni made and deserts that Preston prepared, swimming in the pool, laughing, talking and having a great time together. Thank you, Wings, for allowing us to come and stay with you.
