Travnik is 90 km west of Sarajevo. Travnik today has some 27,000 residents. It is famous for being the capital city of the governors of Bosnia from 1697 to 1850, and having a cultural heritage dating from that period.
We walked to the castle and hung out for awhile allowing Zack to do some sketching.

We walked into town and ate lunch by the river which was cevapi and kupus salata. another one of our favorite things in Bosnia. Cevapi are little sausages tucked inside a warm pita and Kupus Salata is shredded cabbage with vinegar and oil. They are both delicious!

After lunch we walked into the center of town to find the Painted Mosque. Our coworker was directing us with her Lonely Planet book. We found all the landmarks in which the Lonely Planet mentioned. We were looking around for the Painted Mosque expecting it to be colorful. It was painted but the colors have faded over the many years and it is now a lightly Painted Mosque. It was still really pretty.
